My Jesus has Warned us of The Eternal Judgement |
The Parable of the Wedding Feast1 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’5 But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6 And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 7 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9 Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ 10 So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Matthew 22:1-13) Notice that the people didn't need money to get in, or even need to be good; they just needed to be willing to come to the wedding. The wedding garment represented a righteous covering that was given to the guests. The guest that was cast out had not been willing to put on the righteousness that had been offered to him. Are you willing to take the gift of righteouness, even though you can never earn or deserve it? For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. The Bible describes three places of punishment for those who reject the peace with God that Jesus died to give us. Sheol is a holding area for souls beneath the earth. Before Jesus freed them, the faithful were held there with the wicked. Since Jesus came, only the unsaved go to that place. This is because "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord", for those who have decided to trust Jesus' sacrifice for their sins. The Lake of Fire is a place of torment that God made for Satan and his fallen angels; it was not created for men and women. However, those people who do not have their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life, at the time of the Great White Throne Judgement will also be banished to the Lake of Fire. 11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15) The Outer Darkness referred to in the Parable of the Wedding (above) is a general representation of Separation from God. It is only logical that people who choose to live separated from God during life on earth will remain separated for eternity. |
